Visiting Assistant Professor of Environmental Economics and Sustainability
Otterbein University is accepting applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in Environmental Economics and Sustainability. We seek candidates with a demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion who will contribute to the department's efforts to enhance diversity and provide an inclusive learning environment for all.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate is expected to excel in the areas of teaching and service related to Otterbein's BA degree in Economics and future degree in Environmental Economics and Sustainability. Primary teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in Principles in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics, Intermediate Macroeconomics and other advanced micro-based courses such as labor economics, environmental economics and econometrics. Faculty members are also expected to be involved in professional and community activities for the purposes of scholarship, professional development, and service.
QUALIFICATIONS
A Ph.D. in Economics or Agricultural Economics or be within one (1) year of Ph.D. completion is required. The candidate must have a specialization environmental economics or a related specialty. Effective teaching experience at the baccalaureate level and demonstrated record of scholarship are also required. Experience in curriculum development and evaluation (leading the creation of a new major in Environmental Economics and Sustainability) is preferred. The ideal candidate must possess superior communication, leadership and organizational skills, and an ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse communities and cultures. Candidates without terminal degrees will hold the rank of Instructor, Non-Tenure Track. This Visiting faculty position may be renewable for up to 3 years.
WHEN: This appointment will begin in August 2025.
COMPENSATION: For the rank of Assistant Professor (terminal degree) - $87,500, rank of Instructor -$78,000.
