The Center for Systems Biology Dresden (CSBD) calls for applications for the
ELBE Visiting Faculty Program
The ELBE Visiting Faculty Program welcomes junior and senior faculty working in systems biology, theoretical biophysics, computational biology, mathematics in the life sciences, computer science and machine learning with application to biological systems, and related areas. Visiting faculty are expected to closely interact with the research groups at the CSBD (www.csbdresden.de) during their stay, ideally working on joint projects or establishing new collaborations.
What we provide
The CSBD offers visits of flexible duration, typically around 3 months, in an international and cross-disciplinary research environment. ELBE Faculty visitors benefit from close collaborations with scientists at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG), the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems (MPI-PKS), and the Dresden University of Technology (TU Dresden) in a welcoming and inspiring atmosphere. They have access to state-of-the-art research facilities and infrastructure on the campus, including high-performance computing resources. Dresden is a vivid and international scientific center, with a large number of research institutions that are collaborating under the DRESDEN-concept umbrella. Its position as an outstanding location for research and science is recognized world-wide. Since 2012, the TU Dresden is one of the eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany.
What we seek
The ELBE Visiting Faculty program invites external scientists in an independent faculty position who are passionate about bringing new ideas, concepts, or systems to the CSBD or starting cross-disciplinary collaborations. Ideal visitors should have backgrounds in physics, computer science, mathematics or a related discipline, with a track record of working in a cross-disciplinary life-science environment and a passion for advancing our understanding of living systems on the molecular, cell and tissue scales
How to apply
